Here is full view of my first card:

I stamped the image twice and colored the sails and boat on both so I could cut one set of those pieces out to do the paper tole technique.  You can see the results on the close-up photo at the top.  I added some white caps with copic white paint. The map behind is from a map book that belonged to my Dad.  We found lots of maps in his stash while cleaning out his office a few months back.  We all miss him so bad!  I guess that never goes away.  I think he would be pleased that I am using the maps in this way.

Here is my second card:

I wanted to go a little more feminine with the deer.  I stamped him in green and layered him over a panel embossed with the ODBD Quatrefoil die and layered that over the ODBD Layered Lacy Square die.

Here are the NCC sets I used today:

  1. So sorry you are missing your dad....HUGS!!! So sweet that you incorporated one of his maps in your beautiful card!! I love the colors and the 3d sails...very cool! The 2nd is amazing too.....LOVE the color you chose and the embossed quatrefoil pattern is so perfect with the lacey frame!!! Yummy cards, both of them!!

  2. Sandee,
Wonderful cards. Love the simplicity of your second card, using the Deer Silhouette. Great Idea to actually use part of a real map. I am sure he would appreciate your creative use of his maps.

  3. Love your paper tole Sandee! Always adds such a fun and different look to a card and you've done it so brilliantly! Love the map you used in the bg too and I bet your dad would be proud to have something of his in your creation!!
Love the way you did the bg on your deer card! The die used to emboss is such a gorgeous look! Beautiful my dear friend!

  10. Sandee, I love how you took the blue from the map and used that color as a wash over the boat image!!! It's just beautiful!!! I'm also loving the size of that sweet dear card too!!!

  11. Love your cards always. I like the idea of a map behind the boat. TFS

  12. These are wonderful, Sandee! I love the map w/ the sailboat & I'm sure your dad is smiling :) Your deer silhouette is lovely w/ the embossed bg & lacey square die cut.
