How fun to have new stamps specifically created for Bible Journaling! I have to admit, I have been so nervous about this! The possibility of making spelling mistakes or artwork not turning out well, just scared me to death! And honestly, before I got my new journaling bible for my birthday, I tried to do some artwork in the bible that I have had forever, and let's just say, it didn't turn out well! Which just reinforced my fears. But I also knew that the whole idea of bible journaling is to spend time in the Word and use that time to worship our Lord. And I also knew that all along, I have made notes and marks and underlines all over my bible during my study times. It's not about impressing anyone or competing to see who is the most artistic. Bible journaling is personal! That is the best way to describe it! This is my first page in my new bible! I stamped Your Heart with Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink. Then I used a piece of copy paper to blot the ink and then used a heat tool to dry it even more. The ink will smear unless it dries well. I did not have a problem with it bleeding through. You can see through the thin page but it is more of a 'ghosting' than bleeding. I did not prep the page ahead of time but I may in the future. I have read that people have had success prepping pages with a thin coat of clear matte gesso. Anyway, to color in my image I used Crayola Twistables. They work very much like crayons but with a smaller tip. To get the lighter areas, I went over the color with an eraser! And then, I decided to add my own handwriting and doodles. The hand writing at the bottom is fine but the doodling got out of hand! So I ended up printing the bible passage over and gluing it over my doodling failure and added pieces of washi tape to the edge! I even colored the page with a copic marker to better match the rest of the page! Even with all of that, I ended up liking the final result. No it's not perfect. And that's ok! We are to give Him the glory!
It was a peaceful time of spending time studying the scripture.
And then He helped me turn my failure to good!
Here is my next project:
For this card, I used the new Wishing Words set and the new Wishing die! The designer paper is from the Heart and Soul Collection. I used the Ovals and Stitched Ovals along with Double Stitched Rectangles and Leafy Edge Borders to create this card. There is tulle behind the ovals and a pretty seam binding bow and pink rhinestones complete the card.
Here are the ODBD products I used today:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Happy New Year to you all. This is going to be a year of learning for Me. I wish to learn how to doodle. These stamps will make it so easy. Loving this month's release. Thanks to you all.
ReplyDeleteProverbs 3:5,6 has long been a favourite of mine, and a lesson I need to learn over and over again. I love the stamp and how you coloured it. Spending time in the Word is the main aim here. Your card is very pretty too. Loving all of the new releases. God bless you in 2016.
ReplyDeleteDear Sandee your heart shows through your beautiful work! I love your Bible journal page and how you colored it... and even the washi tape... it's the great thing about our own personal journal, whether it's our Bible or a journal or art book... it's ours and not done to impress but to remind us of God's goodness and worthiness of our adoration! I am scared to death to start in my new Bible too but have to remind myself that even if I make mistakes, which I know I will, they will remind me of my imperfections and my need of the Savior! Love the soft feel of the card as well! Classic Sandee style that I love so much!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!!
hugs,
Grace
